Bath Welcomes Refugees is delighted to announce the launch of our new logo and website and we’d like to take this opportunity to thank the talented people who made these things possible, in particular Shari Robertshaw, Philip Jansseune, Klara Kucerova, and Darius Jean who all generously contributed so much of their time and skill.
We realised we needed to change our website and logo as they didn’t fully reflect the variety of people Bath Welcomes Refugees supports or the breadth of the work we do. Klara, as web builder, and Shari as web designer, worked together to create a platform for BWR that fully showcases our work and, most importantly, makes it easily accessible and comprehensible to the wide range of clients we support.
Note our new language picker that enables a wide variety of nationalities to readily access resources and information about our services. Shari Robertshaw generated the illustrations for our website using AI, offering BWR a path to free representations that allowed us to show refugees without the need to identify individuals or races, thereby protecting the identities of vulnerable people and future proofing our branding.
Philip Jansseune, of Walker Jansseune – generously offered to come up with a total new branding for BWR. Something that really represented who we are and what we do. He designed a wonderful variety of images, but more importantly these creative ideas were able to reflect so many of our values and aims. In the chosen logo he put the word ‘Refugees’ at the heart of his design as BWR puts them at the centre of our thoughts. Above this is the overarching symbol that represents Home, Refuge, Security, Welcome, and Inclusivity. Importantly instead of a black and white image, as previously, it radiates bright hopeful colour. It was an image that Philip was able to adapt for our website to also encompass other work that we do – the open-handed gift of language or help with employability; the smile of friendship for our befriending team; the shelter of a new home; the inclusive umbrella of our social groups; the rainbow of hope.
Finally our thanks to Darius Jean – who volunteered his studio time to produce professional headshots of the team – photographs that better represent our professionalism and humanity.
BWR are enormously grateful to all these people for the time and effort they gave us, working determinedly through our ideas and exigencies. Between them they have created a complete rebrand for us that really speaks to the work we do to improve the lives of refugees and asylum seekers and better recognises our values and objectives.
